Leading in a vuca world
Welcome to the new world, the world of VUCA. A world where we are experiencing a period full of the uncertain scope of changes, incomprehensible processes and unpredictable incidences. Understanding this, how can we navigate as leaders? Looking at the VUCA world from a team perspective requires empathetic leadership. For Volatility, lead with a vision. What can be expected tomorrow? Is what we do relevant for Tomorrow? For Uncertainty, lead with the understanding that our jobs are changing day in and day out. As complexity increases, confidence might decrease. This is where we need to pile up our communication clarity and ensure spirit levelling up. Ambiguity is on the rise. We all are probably doing not only what’s written in our job description, and this is where we need to focus on our agility and adaption. Ultimately, Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, and Ambiguous conditions do not stop at leadership or strategies for teams and organisations. Experiences, beliefs, ambitions and paradigms have to be put to the test, as there is no longer one way or one leadership tool. Individuality and co-creation do replace standards. Dealing with dynamics instead of linear thinking is required so that we all can find a way to navigate and be ready to adapt to the changes that the world brings.
